You are responsible for developing and managing the observability services offered to the application teams within the organization. The Elastic Stack plays a crucial role in the client's application landscape. Your job is to ensure that the services optimally match the users' work and to technically integrate them with related areas, such as CI/CD pipelines and basic infrastructure. You work with engineers from other teams to ensure that the services meet the needs and agreed SLAs.
Main tasks as an Observability Expert at the Client:
• You design the architecture for the observability platform;
• You'll help set the direction for observability in the cloud and on-premise, in alignment with other architects;
• You implement and manage observability tooling, such as the Elastic Stack, Prometheus, and Grafana;
• You develop standard observability building blocks that make it easier for teams to manage their applications;
• You perform actions for the purposes of the incident management process;
• You develop, implement and execute test plans for new and existing features;
• You manage the environment by performing upgrades and patches, and by troubleshooting and resolving issues with the relevant tooling.
Your Profile:
• You have at least 5 years of experience as a Observability Engineer. This is a must;
• You know all the ins and outs of the Elastic Stack, preferably Elastic Cloud on Kubernetes. This is also a must;
• You have at least five years of experience with large, complex observability issues. This is also a must;
• You can show technical leadership in word and deed. This is a must;
• You have experience with some of the following techniques. This is a must:
- Setting up and managing distributed data systems with software such as Elasticsearch and/or Kafka.
- Setting up and managing CI/CD workflows with, for example, Jenkins.
- Programming in languages such as Go and Python.
- Setting up or managing observability in Kubernetes clusters.
- Setting up automation based on Ansible, HELM charts and ArgoCD.
